Information about Denmark

Denmark is based in Northern Europe and is the smallest of the Scandinavian countries. The Kingdom of Denmark also has 2 autonomous provinces – the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The latter is over 500 times larger than Denmark but has 100 times less people. Denmark is well known for its strong welfare state, mixed market capitalist economy and has one of the most egalitarian societies in the world. In 2010 it was voted yet again the happiest country in the world.

Denmark is home to a vast panorama of natural wonders, an exciting variety of arts and cultural events, and a fabulous food and wine region. The rugged coastline, beautiful beaches, inlets, rivers, towering karri forests, and ancient tingle trees offer visitors unforgettable scenery and plenty of activities. Denmark is also home to the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk .

Studying in Denmark

Universities and colleges in the Denmark have a number of study programmes and qualifications on offer. Institutions of higher education in the country have thorough international cooperation and attract international students who come to the country either as guest students or as full degree students to pursue various courses.

Few characteristics that set Danish higher education apart from others are high standards of education in the country, a greater weight on commitment from both the institutional and personal point of view, interdisciplinary studies and project work. Another important feature of Danish higher education is that students are encouraged to work in small groups wherein they actively take part in discussions and develop the habit of working independently.

Many institutions in the country have also designed a special student-to-student programme in order to make international students feel at home. A pre-enrolled student helps a student arriving in the country in getting him settled, introducing him to other students, and assisting him in all practical matters.
