Information about Armenia

Armenia is located in the southern Caucasus and is the smallest of the former Soviet republics. It is bounded by Georgia on the north, Azerbaijan on the east, Iran on the south, and Turkey on the west. Contemporary Armenia is a fraction of the size of ancient Armenia. A land of rugged mountains and extinct volcanoes, its highest point is Mount Aragats, 13,435 ft (4,095 m). Armenia is a European Country.

Studying in Armenia

Armenia was considered one of the most advanced scientific centers of the former Soviet Union. The country has reported 99% literacy rate since 1960s. The applied sciences such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, microbiology, engineering and medicine are the cornerstones of Armenia's scientific and educational base. Today, in our republic with only 3.2 mn population they have 18 state universities, from which 8 are foreign managed, and around 20 other private universities. Many universities in Armenia have thousands of foreign students, professors and fellows from around the world. They encourage the youth to study in Armenia and get Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degrees in various fields.

Participants studying Armenian in Yerevan, Armenia will receive approximately 15 hours per week of classroom instruction, led by expert faculty from leading local universities and educational institutions. Courses are designed to strengthen speaking, listening, reading, and writing proficiency in the language of study. Courses in literature, history, politics, culture, and area studies are available for advanced students.

Cost of Study

Cost of Living

Living Expenses is 100 Euro Per Month Only.


Participants may select semester, academic year, or summer programs. The semester program provides approximately 14 weeks of study; the academic year program provides approximately 28 weeks (two semesters), and the summer program provides a minimum of 7 weeks.

Program dates vary by host-country; approximate dates are:

Spring semester: January 30 – May 20
Summer program: June 12 - August 10
Fall semester: September 1 - December 20
Academic Year: September 1 - May 20

Working in Armenia

Students from third countries (outside the EU) are now allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic term period and they are allowed to work full- time during the vacations.
